Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is forcing ESG investors to reconsider their exclusion of defense companies. This creates a good and necessary opportunity to examine more closely the loosely used term of “ESG investing.” It is neither giving up returns nor a sure-fire way of earning them.
