For an organization to achieve its key strategic objectives in both a stable and a turbulent environment in different periods, it needs to develop a sustainable business excellence (SBE). This requires a capability to operate on a dual management mode, which can accommodate both the familiar success criteria that lead to conventional business excellence (CBE) for stable conditions and the criteria of resilience and competitive landscape fitness for periods of environmental turbulence. Such a dual management approach must be embedded in a new framework, grounded in the latest developments of modern science, suitable for living organizations, rather than those based on the currently dominant -˜bottom-line’s oriented -˜mechanical’s metaphor.
