Summary:

Canada’s culture has been sourced through oil and has influenced the investments received by institutions from oil companies. Many university staff and students have expressed desire for their instituions to no longer accept investments from these companies. One argument for the divestment of fossil feul companies is that it shows support to companies have impacted Indigenous communities. Univeristies have difficulty with the concept of divesments as public funding decreases, these companies with investments in the institution can provide a larger financial and social influence.
